A 250,000-strong petition has been delivered to the Apple store in Sydney as part of global action against the company's alleged abuse of Chinese factory workers.

Almost a dozen people handed the signatures to management at Apple's flagship store on George Street at 8am (AEDT) on Friday.

The petition was also delivered to stores in New York, San Francisco, London and Bangalore.

The Change.org campaign was launched by American Mark Shields in Washington DC after he learned about alleged poor working conditions in the Chinese factories where many Apple products are made.

It has since garnered more than 250,000 signatures, including thousands of Australians.

Sydney teenager and keen Apple user Andrew Mason, who dressed up in an iPhone costume for the delivery, said he was determined to see a change in the way the tech giant manufactured its products.

"I love Apple products, I enjoy having an iPhone a lot," the 17-year-old told AAP.

"But the ideal for me would be able to buy the great products that Apple sells without this feeling of guilt that you're contributing to basically making people's lives awful."

Andrew said while he had no intention to boycott the company, he was hopeful the campaign would send a strong message to senior executives.

"I don't think the point of it would be to boycott Apple," he said.

"The point will be to get Apple to be more transparent about their work practices in their factories.

"People really do care about this a lot and people really do want change."

Andrew said the group spoke to the store's manager and were told the petition would be passed on to company executives.
