A former parliament house barmaid has come forward claiming she had a sexual relationship with South Australian Premier Mike Rann.
Michelle Chantelois says she and Mr Rann were close friends for a decade before their relationship developed into something more and they began meeting for sex in his office.
Ms Chantelois has made the claims in a paid interview with Seven's Sunday Night program, insisting she decided to go public to set the record straight.
"It's not something that I like to discuss on a public level but in my case I'm at the point where I feel like I have to come clean," she said in an extract of the interview aired last night.
"I'm tired of the lies and I'm not holding it in any more."
The program says there is evidence supporting Ms Chantelois's claims, including more than 200 text messages she sent to Mr Rann between March 2004 and October 2005.
Mr Rann, who married wife Sasha Carruozzo in July 2006, has denied the claims.
"We'll watch the program and issue a statement afterwards," a spokesman for Mr Rann told The Australian.
"We'll see how badly they beat this up."
Mr Rann’s friendship with Ms Chantelois came under intense scrutiny in September when her former husband Richard Wayne Phillips allegedly assaulted the premier at a Labor Party fundraiser.
Following the incident, Mr Rann told media his wife was aware of his close friendship with Ms Chantelois, who he described as a "terrific person".
